Chart Vacuum Insulated Pipe (VIP) for LNG Applications

Chart VIP provides a robust design for greater safety and performance of the life of the plant. The design and construction of Chart VIP meets the stringent needs of the LNG industry, VIP provides tremendous savings realized through lower installation and life-cycle costs. Savings are realized through minimal liquid losses, limited maintenance costs, and reduced deployment time when compared with mechanical insulation.

Chart VIP is a static vacuum-insulated, laminar radiation-shielded pipe offered in rigid and flexible styles with inner-line diameter ranging from 3/8 inch through 48 inches. Its stainless steel construction, TIG welding, mass spectrometer leak checking and extensive vacuum retention testing help to ensure reliable, maintenance-free services.

 

VIP Flexible Installation Options

Buried Under Ground - Underground installations keep VIP out of sight and prevents potential tampering and reduces exclusion zones and setbacks.

Above Ground - Multiple VIP pipe sizes provide greater flexibility in plant piping layout while taking up less space on existing trestle and jetty infrastructure. In addition, optimum performance is realized due to larger pipe sizes and longer runs of plant piping.

 

Sub-Sea - Shallow water applications with long distance from land mass provides an excellent opportunity for VIP to reduce the amount of trestle and jetty hardware and provide the efficient liquid transfer from ship to shore.
